What to expect

Four things worth knowing.

Nobody is watching you

First-timers are the majority of every class we run. The instructor stands next to you on the range — you are not left to work it out alone.

Grip and fit get real attention

Hand size and strength change what works. Racking a slide is technique before it's strength, and the handling hour is where that gets sorted out.

Come with someone if you want

People who arrive in pairs are visibly calmer. Book them their own seat and take the class together.

No tactical theatre

Pistols only, no rifles, no survive-the-fight language. Just what the law requires and how to handle a firearm properly.

Questions

The ones we get asked.

Will I be the only woman in the class?
Almost certainly not. Women are a large and growing share of our students, and mixed classes are the norm.
I'm nervous about the noise.
Normal, and the ear protection is better than people expect. Tell your instructor before you go out and they'll start you slowly.
What if I can't rack the slide?
Very common, and usually technique rather than strength. It's one of the things the handling hour exists to fix.
What should I wear?
No tank tops or shirts where the brass could fall down your shirt, and no sandals. Everything else is provided.
