A Greenfield Resident Woke Up to a Masked Intruder in the House
A Greenfield resident who uses a wheelchair woke to a masked, armed intruder at 5:45 a.m., fought him off, and escaped unharmed, police said.

The resident, who uses a wheelchair, managed to call dispatch and fight the intruder off, escaping the house unharmed.
Police said the intruder had a gun. Rather than flee, he barricaded himself inside the home, and a standoff with police stretched roughly six hours. Officers cleared floors with a drone and eventually found him hiding in the attic insulation.
He was taken into custody without further injury to anyone and faced home invasion charges. Greenfield's police chief credited the drawn-out, methodical response with keeping neighbors and officers safe.
