Employees Faced Armed Robbers Inside a Lawrence Jewelry Store
Armed men robbed a Lawrence jewelry store with employees inside, taking about $500,000 in jewelry and metals. Three men later faced federal charges.

According to federal charging documents, the robbers took jewelry and cell phones from the employees themselves, then forced the owner downstairs to open the store's safe.
They left with roughly $500,000 worth of jewelry and precious metals. The getaway car — a rented sedan — was found burned in a field in Maine the next day, according to prosecutors.
The case took months to build. In August 2024, federal prosecutors charged three Lawrence men with conspiracy to commit robbery, and one later pleaded guilty. The employees, thankfully, survived the ordeal — but they spent those minutes at the mercy of armed strangers, in the same rooms where they'd worked countless quiet shifts.
