Five Masked Men Hit a North Andover Jewelry Store Before Lunch
Five masked men, most of them armed, ordered everyone in a North Andover jewelry store to the floor and ransacked it in minutes in July 2025.

According to prosecutors quoted by 7News, at least four of them were armed, and within seconds of entering they ordered everyone inside to get down on the ground and face the floor. One suspect kept a gun pointed at a person for the duration of the robbery.
The store was ransacked in minutes. The men fled, and a police pursuit followed, ending in a crash near Marsten Street in Lawrence. Stolen jewelry was recovered from the highway along the escape route.
The manhunt that followed involved multiple agencies. Three suspects were found hiding under a nearby bridge, and a fourth was tracked down after reportedly jumping fences. Four men appeared in Lawrence District Court the following Monday, while police continued searching for at least one more.
Seconds versus minutes.

This was a small local business on an ordinary weekday morning, staff at their counters, customers browsing. The people inside went from a normal Thursday to face-down on the floor with a firearm pointed at them in a matter of seconds. It was over in minutes, but for the people on that floor, minutes is a very long time.

What we tell our students.
One thing our instructors emphasize, especially with new students: in a robbery like this, the safest move is almost always compliance. Property is replaceable. What training gives you is not a script for heroics, it is the ability to stay calm, keep thinking, and make good decisions under stress, which matters whether or not you ever carry a firearm.
The other lesson is about timing. The employees and customers in that store had no say in when this happened. Preparedness is the same way: you cannot start it after you need it. In Massachusetts the licensing process alone takes months, which is why we tell people the right time to take the qualification class is when things are quiet.
