A Man With a Shotgun Walked Into a Brockton Phone Store
A man with a sawed-off shotgun restrained two workers at a Brockton AT&T store in October 2025 and stole cash and electronics. Four people were charged.

According to police, he restrained two employees and made off with thousands of dollars in cash and electronics. No one was physically injured.
Police K-9 units tracked evidence into nearby woods, where officers recovered the shotgun and a duffel bag holding cash and stolen merchandise. Surveillance footage raised questions early: someone had closed the store's blinds before the gunman arrived, and another person was seen carrying a large bag out of the store.
By early November, four people had been charged, CBS Boston reported. A 45-year-old Brockton man was identified by police as the person who carried the shotgun into the store. Investigators said the evidence suggested the robbery may have been an inside job, and detectives identified a getaway driver as the investigation continued.

Whatever investigators ultimately conclude about who helped plan it, here is the part that stays with you: at 8 p.m. on a Monday, in a bright retail store on a main road, employees found themselves face to face with a shotgun. Retail workers across the South Shore close up shops like that every night. Customers wander in five minutes before closing. Ordinary places are exactly where this kind of thing happens.

A case like this is a good moment to say what lawful gun ownership actually is, because it is not the movie version.
